Summer/Holiday Essentials

I live in sunny Plymouth when i'm not at Uni and live near the beach :) so i'm always in a summery/holiday mood (if the weathers good of course) and I always start buying and browsing for summer clothes early. Also with a holiday booked in June I just can't help myself.

I noticed New Look has a great selection of basic vest tops for £4, printed tees for £6 and little shorts for £8.

Obviously, you can't forget Primark where you can probably pick up all your cheap bits and bobs you need for a week away in the sun.
I bought this kaftan from primark for £8...
I'm not a fan of the swimwear in Primark as i'm soo fussy.
For the summer I bought a nice bikini from Marks and Spencers instead.
However, Matalan does have a great selection of swimwear for the right price. Below... bikini top from £4, bikini bottom from £3, gold flip flops from £5, beach bag from £6 and a cute printed halter neck top for only £8.

Summer Sunnys

When I was driving today the sun was shining so brightly in my eyes but I didn't have any sunglasses with me :( this made me realise summer time is near :) so I thought i'd have a look online at the most stylish cheapest sunnys for this summer!

Different shaped sunglasses appear to be in this season.
These heart sunnys from asos.com are only £8...
These lips sunglasses are from urbanoutfitters.co.uk for £16...

There are plenty of 'round' sunglasses in the highstreet. Dorothy Perkins are selling them for £10. The creme ones below are my favourite, but the same in red are also pretty cute...
New Look are selling 50's retro sunglasses for £8. Or only £7.20 with our student discount..."It’s hard to go with a trend. As soon as it’s out, everyone picks it up. It’s important to stay true to yourself. Have fun with fashion instead of letting it dictate." -Estella Warren

Ebay Craze

This week I have been loving Ebay.
It's great for finding really unusual clothes and at good prices, as you can suggest a price yourself and compete with someone else for the goods :)
Whilst browsing Ebay I came across this particular top and two dresses that I liked...
You can also shop by different categories; for example, shops and brands, this is great as it's very helpful.

Make-up On A Budget

As a student, I find make-up sooo expensive to buy, especially as I use it up so quickly. All my make-up seems to run out at the same time, so it seems like i'm forking out loads of money at once.

Few helpful tips:
(1) Vaseline can be used for lipgloss, mascara and on your cheekbones :) not too much though obviously else you'll get a greasy face ha.. but putting abit on your cheekbones on top of your blushers an idea.

(2) Greasy hair? and don't want to wash it every day (as it does take the vitamins out- my hairs dry and dead enough as it is)
Why not try talcum powder, talcum powder is also a lot cheaper than buying dry shampoo. Just not too much else your hair will go grey- works better with blondes.

(3) My main essential is bronzer.
I always by Rimmel Sun Glow bronzer (£4.88) and wear it on top of my liquid foundation as it keeps you looking tanned. Got to be careful with bronzers though as I have bought cheap bronzers in the past, which have been very glittery- not a good look in the day.

(4) I do love Rimmel.. I find the products are good quality and not a bad price. I have Rimmel's black extra super lash mascara and black pencil eyeliner.

Black extra super lash mascara is £4.59...Black pencil eyeliner can be bought at £2.93...
I love Rimmel's sunshimmer instant tan £4.88...
(5) I recently bought some bright pink star gazer eyeshadow from New Look. I can also use this eyeshadow for blusher. I always try and buy eyeshadow or blusher that can work as both.

Bikky :)

Today I went shopping (again) haha with my Mum and realllly wanted a new bikini for my holiday in June :) I'm soooo fussy with bikinis and looked in all the usual shops.. River Island, Topshop, Primark, Miss Selfridge, H&M. But none of them got my attention and if they did, they didn't fit right or were way to expensive. I did see a bright pink one in La Senza but just the top half was£25 so I didn't even bother looking at the bottom half!

And eventually, by fate, after having lunch in Marks & Spencers.. I came across the bikini aisle :) I would usually associate M&S with 'middle-aged/oldies' clothes but I found myself a very very bright pink bikini, obviously quite expensive as it is M&S. Wouldn't have been able to pay for it off my student budget BUT my mum was awfully generous and paid for it- £24 :)

Primark Buys :)

You're probably thinking i'm a student.. why am I posting so many blogs about new buys haha! But the truth is, these last couple of weeks have been Easter so I have been spolit :) And also, you can buy lots in Primark without spending much at all.

Necessities which myself and other students can't afford/don't want to buy, haha, such as underwear, socks and tights.. perfect just to get from Primark.

I bought the bag for £5- great to take on holiday on the plane i'm thinking :)
I found this dress below for £5 from £11- i'm going to staple abit of the sides together as it's abit poofy at the bottom and team it up with a belt, heels and necklace.

This blue top was £8 and the red little t-shirt £1.50 as t-shirts are always handy to have. My mum's always kind when it comes to buying me casual useful clothes, other than the usual going out tops and dresses I like to buy.

Last but not least, my Mother treated me to some pyjamas.. the reason being I iterally don't own any!haha. Not bad set for only £5.70

World's Best-Dressed Woman 2009

The gorgeous Cheryl Cole has been voted the world's best-dressed woman- knocking Kate Moss off the top spot! The editor of Glamour magazine, Jo Elvin, ran the poll.
Kate Moss, didn't make it into the top 10 - and neither did 2008's number one entry, fellow supermodel Agyness Deyn.

Michelle Obama, was a new entrant at Number 31! (I love her dress below)

I Wish I Lived In Florida...

Everytime I go to Florida I always buy sooo many clothes at such decent cheap prices. The best shop in the world is 'Papaya' soooo good :) However this time, my parents were out there on their own but still decided to bring me back some goods :)

I love this smart top which will be great to wear on my Newsdays- only about £4.
The long sleeve casual top underneath is a good top for the winter with some jeans, again only about £2. As you can see, there is a different pattern on the front than on the back.

This hoody below is my new fave to wear around the house- only £4.

It must be so easy being a student in Florida ;)

New Buys

Whilst visiting my grandparents, my nan treated me to a shopping spree!
And we certainly did get some great buys :)
Can't go wrong with Matalan, New Look, TK Maxx and Peacocks.
Matalan has a great selection of strap tops and boob tubes for only £2/£3, so obviously I had to pick up a few.

I bought this lovely sailorish jacket/blazer, although quite expensive at £18.

This green top, only £5 :) wooo!

This lime green cardi- £8, apparently greens my colour (as a lot of the old women in Matalan said, haha)

This flowery dress- great for summer only £8

Selected jewellery was also 75% off, i bought a wooden beaded necklace for £1.65 instead of £7!!!
I do love New Look, and found this cute cardi in the sale for £7

This vest (below) is great for a night out and for daytime! With slits down the side, putting a top on underneath, maybe some leggings and heels.. great outfit for the evening ;) You can really accesorise it up. With my student discount it was only £12.60, also bought another one but in a peachy/pinky colour.

And eyeshadow to match of course, £3.These shoes are amazing but at the moment they're abit too expensive for me.ha. Until the loan comes through ;)

There were a few decent items in TK Maxx, although no bargains i'm afraid. There was a cute vintage green handbag but for £13 it wasn't in my price range haha. There was also a lovely tweed little jacket, although as soon as trying it on the buttons fell off.. not good. The shoes in TK Maxx are ummmm unusual is the word ha but some bronze gladiator style heels I literally fell in love with, needless to say £40 wasn't a cheap deal.

In Peacocks, I spotted some black lace leggings which I am loving for £10. Didn't buy them but definitely to be bought in the future.
